Beer Bread

2 cups all purpose, self-rising flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 (12 oz) can beer

Gently mix together flour, sugar and beer in a large bowl, just enough to blend. Turn out into a greased 9x5x3 inch loaf pan (leave it a little lumpy on top). Bake in a preheated, 375 degree oven (glass pan, 350 degrees) for 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean. Drizzle with melted butter and turn out on rack to cool.

I remember this was one of my favorite recipes from my summers with Nanny in Virginia. I think we got the recipe from a magazine or from the newspaper, but every time Aunt Jenny would visit, they would get me to make this. They thought it I was so cute mixing things up in Nanny’s immaculate kitchen.
